Brian Thomas Cosen entered suddenly into rest on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024. He was 46.
Born in Norwich, NY on September 9, 1977, he was the son of JoAnn (nee Tansey) and the late Thomas Cosen. Brian was a 1996 graduate of Oxford High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Brockport in 2001. It was there at Brockport, the first week of freshman year, where he met his future wife, Maria. They met on their shared birthday of September 9, 1997, and married on July 6, 2002. Upon graduation, Brian worked for a short time at Pinkerton Security and eventually followed in his dad’s footsteps and began his career in the car business at Cortese Ford in Rochester, where he quickly rose to become a finance manager. When the opportunity presented itself to work for West Herr in 2004, he welcomed the chance. After starting in finance and becoming a General Sales Manager, he became the General Manager at West Herr Jeep in Orchard Park in 2015. This was his home for many years. It is there that his coworkers truly became his jeep family, whom he loved dearly.
Brian was an avid sports fan and a proud season ticket holder for the Buffalo Bills. He loved tailgating with his son Tommy and attending every home game, rooting on his favorite team. When not cheering for the Bills, you could find him watching the Yankees or any college football or basketball game on TV, or out on the lake fishing.
Brian was known for his strong work ethic and ability to connect with people. If you met Brian once, you were his friend for life! He loved to host friends and family to watch Bills games, pool parties or for no other reason than to share good food, great drinks and plenty of laughs!
Brian’s greatest joy and accomplishments are his two children Kate and Tommy. He helped coach Tommy’s baseball and football teams and loved watching Kate dance. He would always say, “I taught her that!” In addition to the love and pride Brian had for his children, he had a special bond with his sister’s son, Jordan. He was so proud to watch Jordan grow into an amazing young man.
Above all, Brian worked hard and lived life to the fullest! He enjoyed beach vacations with his beloved family…his favorite place being on the ocean in Myrtle Beach.
In keeping with Brian’s loving and generous spirit, it was his decision to be an organ donor so that others may live.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 22 years, Maria (nee Slaiman); two loving children, Kate and Tommy; loving son of JoAnn Cosen; dear sister Paula (Shawn) Bowman of Holland-Patent, NY; brother Scott Cosen of Guilford, NY; dear son-in-law of Mary Anne and the late Thomas J. Slaiman of Grand Island; brother-in-law Jim (Kristen) Slaiman of Grand Island, Ricco (Cassie) Slaiman of Niagara Falls, and Dan (Katie) Slaiman of Grand Island; and eight nieces and nephews whom he adored, Jordan, Francesca, Leena, Jake, Ramona, Max, Julian and T.J.
