Jack F Butler, 95, of 404 North Street Williamston NC died on Wednesday November 2,2011. He was born in Canandaigua New York to Floyd and Harriet Rhodes Butler on August 27, 1916.He graduated from Canandaigua New York Academy and was a Duke University graduate. He received his MA degree from East Carolina University. He was a WWII Navy veteran 7/4223/47 with duty in the South Pacific and China. He was a teacher, band director, and primary school principal in the Williamston schools for 30 years retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the Williamston Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon and choir director. He was married on May 9, 1943 to wife Emily Murphy Butler for 60 years, she preceded him in death on May 10, 2003.
Survivors are one son David DeVane Butler and wife Judith of Asheboro NC, Also a sister Elinor Butler O'Connell and husband Bill of Canandaigua New York, niece Candis Butler Leary and nephew Robert Earl Butler, caregivers Latoya Mills and Nancy S Rogerson.
A Funeral service will be conducted at Biggs Funeral Home by the Rev Chris Kirwan at 2:00 PM on Sunday November 6, 2011. Visitation of friends will be received from 3-4:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
The family requests in lieu of flowers those who desire may make a memorial contribution to Williamston Presbyterian Church or Martin Memorial Library.
