William Smyth Abbett, age 79, of Okemos, Michigan passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the age of 79. He was born July 20, 1942 in Chicago, the son of Paul and Beatrice Abbett.
Bill received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Northern Illinois University and his PhD from Michigan State University. He worked for MSU for many years and retired as the third Dean of the College of Human Medicine. He was a lifelong fisherman and enjoyed golfing with friends.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Abbett; son, Bill (Aimee) Abbett; daughter, Barbara (Dean) Monette; grandsons, Andrew Abbett, Eric Abbett, and Jake Yanez. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Abbett.
