Mary Louise Gerke

On February 3rd, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Stanley Allen Gerke. They spent 34 wonderful years together, raising four children, before Stanley passed away in 2002.

Mary dedicated her whole life to caring for her family and those around her. She was actively involved with her children’s school and sports activities and received school district-wide recognition for volunteering and making a difference in her community.

Nothing brought her more joy in her later years than her nine grandchildren: Matthew, Allyson, Emily, Drew, Lauren, Christopher, Gabriel, Liam and Annica.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Lisa) Gerke of Cave Creek, AZ, Jennifer (Matt) Bennett of Williamston, MI, Jonathan (Renee) Gerke of Vancouver WA, and Janice (Chad) Fagan of Portland, MI. Mary is also survived by her brother, William (Sue) Cornwell; brother-in-law, Fred Gerke; nephew, Will Cornwell; niece, Cathy Cornwell; and cherished friends Jan Collins, Tom and Mary Ann Gaybrick.

Mary was an avid supporter of the Capital Area Humane Society, where donations can be made in her name.
