Marilyn Kay Beechem, age 82, passed away on October 21, 2023, in Lansing, Michigan. She was born on September 30, 1941, in Lansing, Michigan, to Jerry and Genevieve Barcelow. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Keith Barcelow.
Marilyn was a loving and strong-willed individual who touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her spouse, Douglas Beechem, and her siblings, Michael (Nancy) Barcelow and Richard Barcelow. She is also survived by her nieces, Aimee (Brian) Nosbish and Michelle (John) Charon, as well as her nephews, Shaun (Amy) Barcelow, Gregg Barcelow, and Dominic Barcelow. Marilyn also leaves behind several great nieces and nephews who adored her.
After graduating from St. Mary's Cathedral High School in Lansing, Michigan, in 1959, Marilyn embarked on a successful career. The day after graduation, she began working as a secretary at Oldsmobile and later at MSU. Marilyn's dedication extended beyond her professional life, as she supported her husband, Doug, in various endeavors. From washing basketball uniforms for the Webberville High School team, where Doug served as the coach, to taking on the role of secretary for a local golf league, Marilyn was always there to lend a helping hand.
Marilyn found solace and community in her faith and was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church of Morrice, Michigan. She cherished her time spent worshiping and connecting with others in her religious community.
In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed tending to her vibrant garden of flowers, challenging herself with crossword puzzles, and, most importantly, spending quality time with her beloved family. Marilyn's warm presence and love for her family will forever be treasured.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marilyn's memory to The Rescue Mission of Lansing, a cause that was dear to her heart.
Marilyn Kay Beechem will be remembered as a devoted spouse, a caring sister, a doting aunt, and a cherished friend. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
