She was the youngest of five children and to the family was known as “Little Margaret”. At the early age of twelve she attended tent meetings and became a Christian. She graduated from Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio and worked at the Equity Dairy ice cream parlor. She met Harold Horstman and wrote to him when he went to fight overseas during World War II. They married after the war on September 22nd, 1946.
Several years later, Margaret and Harold moved from Lima to Harold’s hometown of Williamston, along with their three children. Margaret enjoyed cooking and having family over for dinner, and was known for her canning, making jams and cookies, and her wonderful German Chocolate Cake. Margaret always worked hard and was one of the first women to drive a school bus for Williamston Schools. She drove the same route for 24 years before she retired. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 296 of Williamston.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Harold Henry Horstman, and by her siblings Donald Stemen, Eloise Dunahay, Betty Shingledecker, and James Stemen.
