Joyce A. Benjamin, age 77, made the peaceful journey to be with her family in Heaven on Friday, June 23, 2017. Joyce was born on May 25, 1940 in Leroy Township the daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Campbell) Schuchaskie. She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamston. Joyce grew up on the farm her family has owned since 1838 and returned to be a hard-working farm wife with her husband, Robert, in 1968. Joyce took great pride in her job of caring for the Holstein calves on the farm and feeding all of the hungry bellies of those who worked on the farm. Her specialty was pies; she made the best pies in the whole world.
Joyce would have celebrated her 59th wedding anniversary with Robert on June 28. Their love for each other was unrivaled. Their love was pure and could endure any obstacle life had for them. The day they met, was the first day of the rest of their lives. Joyce and Robert gave life to four beautiful children: Mark (Mark Taylor) Benjamin, James (Julia) Benjamin, Todd (Loretta) Benjamin and Suzanne (Allan) Tuttila. They have been blessed with nine grandchildren; Candice (Max) Bryson, Daniel (Cassity) Benjamin, Ashley Benjamin, Thomas (Maureen) Benjamin, Anthony Tuttila, Cass Benjamin, Carrie Benjamin, Hillary Tuttila, Eric (Brittany) Benjamin and five great grandchildren: Ronin, Hattie, Gunnar, Mason and Case. Joyce has a brother, Kenneth (Mary Ann) Schuchaskie, a sister-in-law, Judy Schuchaskie, a sister-in-law, Ruth (Gerald) Neil and a brother-in-law, Claude (Penny) Benjamin. Joyce also leaves behind many delightful nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Molly.
Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Schuchaskie and her parents Kenneth and Helen Schuchaskie. Her best friend, Joan Acker, will serenade her in song and laugh with her over tea.
The mass of Catholic celebration will be on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Parish at 11:00 AM. The family will receive visitors at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 27 from 6-8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
