Joseph Emery Cary

Joseph Emery Cary, age 91, of Webberville, Michigan passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023- just missing his 92nd birthday, peacefully surrounded by family after a struggle with kidney cancer. He is preceded in death by his mother, Esther (Kish) Cary, and father, Joseph Kari along with his stepfathers, Wyan Polos, Steve Mattosh and Chuck Elliott as well has Joe's wives, Patricia Cary, Charlotte Cary, and Judith Cary. After graduating from Painesdale High School, Joe became a butcher at a young age working in the stock yards in Detroit back in 1949. He had worked for many markets throughout his career, last working at Meijer's Thrifty Acres for 17 years, raising his family on minimum wage. He was a man who wanted to provide a safe place for his family to live with food on the table and a roof over their heads. Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time and found peace when being outdoors. He enjoyed going on cruises to many places and enjoyed camping.

He was married to Patricia Cary who passed in 2000. Together, they had 5 children: Claudia Cary-Davison, Lynda Parker (with granddaughter Kendra Parker), Kathleen Cary-Black with Joe Black (granddaughter Samantha Black), Tom Cary, Joanne Cary (with grandson Jean Paul Jackson and Great Granddaughter Jaylee, granddaughter Taryn Jackson with Justin and Great grandchildren Kenya and Avaya - Shaunessa Taylor with Devon, and Great granddaughter Alyx). Joe had another family when he married Charlotte Cary who passed in 2000 with her children Larry Larson, Nancy Brown and Ken Bost and their families. Then Joe married Judy Cary who passed away in 2004. Joe is survived by his last love Betty Shelton and her family of John Dave Shelton with his children Brook and Matt and Joanne and Keith and their children Patty and Stacey.

Joe touched many hearts through his 91 3/4 years with laughter, smiles, and a warm heart, may we all be grateful for the time we had with this amazing man.

A visitation for Joseph will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 East Middle Street, Williamston, MI 48895. A service will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 205 East Middle Street, Williamston, MI 48895. A committal service will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Webberville Cemetery, Webberville Rd, Webberville, MI 48892.
