Jo Anne Burditt of Williamston, MI died at home on August 22. Jo was born on June 12,1950 in Saginaw, Michigan to Wallace and Mary Carle, both of whom preceded her in death. Jo worked for The Saginaw Public Health Department for over 30 years.
Jo will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit and strong faith. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say about everyone. She was a constant light in a world that often felt dark and broken.
Jo was a helper. Whether it was a stranger who needed a ride, someone who needed financial support or just a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. She was a “mom” and role model to so many who weren’t her children. She loved those who were hard to love; she forgave those who were undeserving; she continually saw the best in people and encouraged those around her to do the same. Jo was very much the hands and feet of Jesus. She made the world a better place and didn’t expect anything in return or want recognition for it. The world and our lives will be a bit darker without her.
Jo loved all things Christmas, gardening and birds. While we grieve, we are comforted by all the loved ones she has been reunited with and the assurance that she is busy gardening and decorating her little corner of heaven.
Jo is survived by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Byron, and two daughters: Dawn (Andy) Kroeger and Jodie (Chris) Solari. Jo loved her son-in-laws as her own children. Her greatest joy was being a grandma to her five granddaughters: Audrey, Harper, Francesca, Amelia and Annabelle. She also leaves behind sister, Rox Anne Carle and brother, Tom (Carol) Carle and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Craig, and one sister, Lynn Anne (Mike) Doyle.
A memorial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Haslett. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the service.
In Jo’s honor, we encourage you to plant some flowers, donate blood or simply pay it forward by doing something nice for someone. Don’t overthink it, just do something to make the world a brighter place, like she did every day.
