Frank B. Synk, 97 of Williamston, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018. Surviving are his wife, Caroline (Gohl) Synk; sons, David (Jan) Synk and Robert (Theresa) Synk; daughters, Lucy Synk, Barbara (Jim) Smith, and Donna (Dennis) Opoka; grandchildren, Jean (Justin) Miernik, Chris Smith, and Adam Opoka; great-granddaughter, Juliana Miernik; brother, Ben Synk; brother-in-law, Bill (Pat) Gohl; numerous, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Apollonia Synk; brother, Fred; sisters, Marie Hugo and Katherine “Kit” Poggemeyer. Frank retired from the State of Michigan Department of Social Services. He loved gardening and spending time with family. He was very talented at building things and enjoyed bowling, cards, and the Williamston Senior Center. Frank served in the United States Army during WWII and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was an active parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Church at 12:00pm on Thursday, August, 30th. The Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Williamston Chapel on Wednesday from 6-8pm with the Rosary prayed at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church, 157 High St., Williamston, MI 48895.
