Doris Lucille Perkins, age 91, of Williamston, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the home of her son Rob Perkins in Sacramento, California.
She was born March 8, 1920, in Morrice, Mich., to Jacob and Lulu (Townsend) Howard, the youngest of four children.
In 1948, Doris married Ronald Perkins of Williamston where they resided on their farm north of town. They served faithfully as members of West Locke Wesleyan Church.
Doris worked at the Williamston Post Office as a rural mail carrier for several years. She frequently visited shut-ins, and welcomed missionaries and guests to stay in her home.
Doris is lovingly remembered by her four sons, Richard (Merry) Perkins of Williamston, Phil (Peggy) Perkins of Lexington, KY, Dennis (Kathy) Perkins of Holland, and Rob (Sandra) Perkins of Sacramento, CA.. She is survived by ten grandchildren, and four great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ronald in 2005, her mother and father, grandson Andrew in 2006, brothers Alpheus and Calvin, and sister Lottie.
A funeral service will be 11: a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at West Locke Wesleyan Church, 2652 Haslett Rd., Williamston, MI 48895. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and one hour before the service Wednesday.
