William N. Deaver Sr.

Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, William Nelson Deaver, 92, of The Williamsburg Landing, died peacefully on December 31, 2013. William (“Bill”) was born May 5, 1921 and was preceded in death last January by his wife of 70 years, Louise Ward Deaver.

After returning home from Europe at the end a World War II, Bill began what would become a life-long career in banking at Security Savings and Commercial Bank in Washington, D.C. He became a well-known, much respected banker in Northern Virginia and President of Suburban National Bank of Virginia in Arlington, VA before his retirement in 1983. Bill was active in the Lions Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes during his lifetime.

Bill leaves his son, William Nelson Deaver, Jr. and his wife, Sharon Schoolar Deaver, and family including 2 granddaughters, their spouses, and 8 great grandchildren. His niece and husband joined family in a private ceremony at Nelsen’s Funeral Home. Burial will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.

His family will gratefully and prayerfully remember his respectful kindness and generosity.
