William "Chip" Chisholm, age 74, passed away Sunday, 1 March 2015 at his home with family after a courageous year long bout with pancreatic cancer. Chip was born on 18 August 1940 in Sharon, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Peters and his father, George L. Chisholm. Cherishing his memory are his wife of 54 years, Valerie, son Steve (Janice), daughter Debbie (Chris), and grandchildren Allison and Samantha Clark. Chip's memory is also cherished by cousins Liane Chisholm of Butler, Pennsylvania, Susan Hamilton & family of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Cheryl Krider & family of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Christopher Newport University with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He served his country with distinction first as active duty U.S. Army posted in Frankfurt, Germany and later as a civilian with the Department of Defense as a security professional, a career from which he retired in 1991. As a civilian Chip served overseas in Okinawa, Japan and Australia and also traveled extensively abroad throughout his career while posted mostly in the Washington, D.C. area. After retirement he continued pursuing his interests as an avid fisherman and traveler. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends, of which he had many as to know Chip was to love him.
A celebration of life will be held at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, Virginia on Saturday, 7 March at 1:00 pm. Chip's final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery where he will be interred Summer 2015. Please share memories and condolences with the family via www.nelsencares.com.
