Clarence Wayne Jones, age 74, passed away June 28, 2018 after a brave fight with lung cancer. He was born September 1, 1943 in Roxboro, NC. After graduating from Roxboro High School, he attended King's College in Durham, NC. He was married for 41 years to Janet S. Jones.
Wayne was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a Corpsman at the U. S. Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was employed by Owens-Illinois Glass in Durham, NC as a Mold Maker and in 1977 transferred to Alton, IL and once again transferred in 1980 south to Owens-Illinois in Toano, Va., where he retired after 42 years in 2006. Wayne was a member of Williamsburg Methodist Church, and loved bass fishing and camping at Buggs Island Lake in NC with his wife and grandson. Already a devoted grandfather, he was overjoyed seeing his beloved new great-granddaughter, Cecilia. He also was a dedicated University of North Carolina Tarheel basketball fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Tonya R. Jones (Michael) of Charlotte, NC, and Rhonda A. Jones (Brett) of Fancy Gap, Va.; grandson, Matthew S. Koehler (Samantha) of Va. Beach, Va.; great-granddaughter, Cecilia M. Koehler; sister, Diane Crews of Halifax, Va. and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 151 Kristiansand Dr. #115, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188 where he and Janet volunteered.
