Robert Daniel Welch

The son of Stephen J. and Anna Higginson Welch, he was born in Sewickley, PA in June 1933, married Mary Meany in June 1955 and is the beloved father of two sons, Kevin and Gregory. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ann Louise, and his son Gregory.

Robert graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1954. He worked at the Monaca Post Office, Rheem Manufacturing of Monaca and retired from Duquesne Light Co. after 32 years in the Electrical Maintenance Department.

Robert regularly attended church with his family at Monaca United Methodist, North Branch Presbyterian, and Faith Baptist of Williamsburg.

Robert was voted, “Scout Master of the Year” while serving as Explorer Post 423 Scout Master, and additionally participated in Wood Badge and Canoe Trails programs. Robert was instrumental in helping several scouts to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

Robert was a Center Twp. Volunteer Fireman for 40 years, a member of the Monaca Lions Club, and the Monaca Center Masonic Lodge.

Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary; son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Yvonne; granddaughter, Megan; grandson, Matthew; brother, Stephen J. Welch Jr.; and two nieces, Susan and Cindy.

A graveside service and interment will be held at the Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Drive, Williamsburg, VA on April 4, 2022 at 11:00 am.
