Richard was a lifelong Episcopalian. In his early years, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed racing hydroplanes and playing tennis. Following his retirement as an engineering technician from NASA, he and his devoted wife traveled the United States enjoying the beauty of this nation. Above all, he cherished and supported his family with an abundance of love and humor.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy; son, Richard and his wife, Leigh; daughter, Dianne; and grandchildren, Bethany Storey, Julie Storey, Kittie Storey, Jamin Shantie and Jenny Lappas.
Services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, on Saturday, August 22 at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Cemetery.
