Ralph Disque Stephens, 87, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on March 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mary Disque Stephens, and his brothers, Glenn, Ray, and an infant brother.
He was born on September 23, 1929 in Oil City, PA, and graduated from Cranberry High School, Seneca, PA, in 1947. He married Phoebe Ann Vogan on September 20, 1953.
Ralph’s 42-year professional career was in the grocery industry from which he retired in 1993. He resided in Seneca, PA, and Pine Grove Mills, PA, and since 1999 in Williamsburg, VA. He was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed boating, reading, history, playing cards, traveling, gardening, spending time with his family and friends, and wood working. His family will treasure the detailed wood Christmas ornaments he made for many years.
He is survived by his wife Phoebe, his daughter Debbie (Gene) Bruss of Williamsburg, VA, his son Sam (Cindy) Stephens of Hainesport, NJ, and his daughter Jan (Steve) Browder of Cary, NC. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Shaun (Lia) and Jenna Stephens, Andrew and Leigh Browder, Zachary and Jordan Bruss, and four great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Williamsburg United Methodist Church. A private interment will be held in the Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the The Memorial Garden Fund at Williamsburg UMC.
