Mrs. Eden was born in Indianapolis, IN and raised in Flushing, NY by John and Ann Wohlever, as the eldest of three. Mrs. Eden was a graduate of Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School for Girls in Brooklyn, NY.
As a woman and a “child of the depression,” she was proud to attend Queens College of New York City where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees. Mrs. Eden retired as a second-grade teacher from Montgomery County Public Schools (Maryland) in 1998.
While living in Potomac, MD, Mrs. Eden was an active member and eucharistic minister of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Rockville, St Bartholomew’s in Bethesda, and then St. Bede’s in Williamsburg where she had a second home until moving there permanently in 2010. She was also a frequent volunteer including, Meal on Wheels, Hospice House, and the White House during the Clinton Administration. Beyond her church, Mrs. Eden was generous with donations to many charitable organizations.
Pat loved cooking, gardening, reading, and shopping but her real passion was race walking. She was an active walker into her 80s, winning many competitions for her age group as a member of the Colonial Road Runners. Pat also greatly enjoyed traveling throughout the country and around the world.
Pat had a happy-go-lucky personality, always friendly, smiling, and laughing.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, Jack F. Eden and her parents. She is survived by her loving children, Jill Eden Burns of Phoenix, AZ and Scott Eden (Viola Vaughan-Eden) of Williamsburg; her brothers, John Wohlever (Marie) of Holland, MI and Jim Wohlever (Mary Ann) of Brookfield, CT; sister-in-law, Betty Eden of El Cajon, CA; a special niece, Jean Wohlever; dear friends, Johanna and Stephen Pond; and many other wonderful family and friends.
A funeral mass is planned for noon on Friday, June 24, 2022, at St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg with interment in the columbarium immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her name be sent to Williamsburg Hospice House, 4445 Powhatan Parkway Williamsburg, Virginia 23188.
