Norman Lee “Pete” Webb joined the Air Force at age 17 during which time he traveled out of state and country (Iceland) for the first time. While still in the Air Force, he attended high school in San Angelo, TX and then graduated from Hampton High School. He then attended and graduated from ODU while working full time at the Newport News shipyard.
Pete and Millie married and welcomed two daughters into their family - Mary Catherine while living in the Hilton area of Newport News and Melissa after they moved to Williamsburg.
Pete is survived by his wife, Millie Rusmiselle Webb, daughters Mary Catherine Damon, and Melissa “Misa” Singh (Vik) and grandchildren William Bey Flanagan and Sariah Joy Singh. He is also survived by brother Jim Webb (Barbara), sisters Frances Barnes (Jack), Polly Ikenberry (Gary), and Vivian Landis and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pete loved to work outside, usually in his garden or tending his plants and lawn which he kept green all year round. He was a creative home chef and an award winning chili cook off champion. He entertained his children and grandchildren with imaginative stories and childhood songs. He love to travel to Alaska, Hawaii, Texas, Western sites and most recently to Cuba.
A memorial service will be held at the Williamsburg Mennonite Church, 7800 Croaker Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188 on Saturday, October 21 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Pete Webb’s honor may be made to the Williamsburg Mennonite Church.
