Marcus Edward Embrey, 51, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on September 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph Edward Embrey and Frances Beatrice Embrey; and his father, Carlton Edward Embrey.
Born on March 28, 1973 to Carlton and Yanna Embrey in Arlington, Virginia; Marcus attended elementary school ACS in Athens, Greece, OCS in Tripoli, Libya, and then he went on to graduate from York Academy in Virginia. He then went on to become a firefighter and cardiac paramedic for the Williamsburg Fire Department, along with being a member and President of the Firefighters Union.
Marcus was a resident of Williamsburg since 1985, and before that he lived overseas with his family. He liked to spend his time playing sports, being out on the water and fishing; along with being an arborist. He was a lover of all kinds of music, and loved to play his guitar. He also enjoyed photography and was a member of the New York Photography Society.
Even though he was diagnosed with MS 24 years ago, he remained strong until his final days. His bravery, determination and sheer will to live is an inspiration to those who knew him best.
He is survived by his son, Ayden Edward Embrey; his mother, Yanna Embrey; his sister, Nadina Embrey; and his aunt, Launie Spedden.
A Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on October 1, 2024 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Williamsburg Fire Department (440 North Boundary Street, Williamsburg).
