Kim peacefully passed away in a local hospital on Friday, February 7, 2014 after a long illness. Born on August 2, 1958 in Covington, Kentucky, to the late Jerome Meiners and Shirley Fling, she spent her childhood years in Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.
Kim was a 1980 graduate of Michigan State University where she earned a BS degree in packaging engineering. She enjoyed a successful career in the profession as an employee of a number of leading international medical and pharmaceutical companies.
Kim earned a PhD in international affairs, had two patents in engineering and was frequently quoted in technical journals. Her fun-loving nature and dedication to her family and pets were appreciated by all who knew her and she had a passion for keeping in touch with friends. Kim loved to organize gatherings of families and friends and took pride in attention to the little details that contributed to the enjoyment of these occasions by the attendees.
In addition to her mother, Kim is survived by a brother, Stephen J. Meiners of Commerce Township, Michigan, and a sister, Noelle Meiners Powell of Mansfield, Ohio.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bede Church on Thursday, February 13 at 1 PM. Friends are invited to send memorials to the charity of their choice.
