He passed away all too soon, on October 7, 2022.
Jule was raised in Long Island City, Queens, for the first 16 years of his life. In 1987 at 17, Jule, his mother, and his brother, Asante, moved to Williamsburg, VA. Jule attended Lafayette High School and played point guard on the basketball team. He graduated in 1988.
Jule was an avid sportsman, and there wasn’t a sport he didn’t like or do. You could probably find him doing one of his many favorite hobbies around the town. Those hobbies include biking, skiing, tennis, kayaking, fishing, and golf.
While Jule held several jobs, he felt at home with his Bicast Publishing Co., where he considered his co-workers family. Jule worked there for three years as the Director of Facilities Maintenance and Safety Coordinator.
Anyone who knew Jule said the same thing about him: “What a nice guy.” He was always jolly and never had a bad word for anyone.
Jule was preceded in death by his brother, Asante Smith (December 2009), and his mother, Agnes Anita Wallace (September 2020). He leaves to mourn his father, Willie Lee Smith; his brother, Eric; sister-in-law, Theresa; niece Erica; and nephew; Terence Smith; as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
There will be a memorial service for Jule at the Nelsen Funeral home on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 2pm.
Jule was and always will be a Jewel.
