He was born to parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Schultz on December 11, 1942 in Erie, PA and was the eldest of two children. Joe graduated from Cathedral Preparatory School and attended Gannon University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He was an active member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and cherished the relationships he fostered to this day.
After college, Joe landed a job at American Sterilizer Company and was awarded "Salesman of the Year" twice during his 30 year tenure. Joe was relocated to Springfield, VA in 1975, where he and his family lived for 30 years. He coached Little League baseball, youth soccer teams and was a founding member of the Springfield Adult Soccer League. He also enjoyed playing basketball, soccer and golf, treasure hunting at garage sales, discovering new places in his "LIL MGB" and keeping the best manicured lawn in the neighborhood. After retiring, Joe and Carrie moved to Williamsburg in 2003, where they continued their passion for travel and participated in an active social life.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carrie; his son, Pete and his wife Lisa; his daughter, Kira and her husband Danny; and granddaughter, Reese.
A Mass will be held in honor of Joe at 12:00 pm on Friday, March 17, 2023 at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) would be greatly appreciated by his family.
