John Habib Showah, 65, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2017. John will be remembered for his selflessness, love of family and passion for his craft. John was a master jeweler and goldsmith beginning his life and career in Beirut, Lebanon before immigrating to the United States in 1976. After over a decade in New York's wholesale jewelry exchange, he and his family moved to Williamsburg, Virginia in a transition to crafting in a retail setting. In 2008, John took his 40 years of end-to-end experience in the jewelry business and opened his own store, Johnstown Jewelers. John earned the trust of his community with his signature candor, creativity and craftsmanship. John's story illustrates the self-determination, hard work and sacrifice of the great American Dream. A diamond in the rough, he will be sorely missed. Preceding him in death are his father Habib Showah; mother Nasra Showah; and brother Michael Showah. He is survived by his brother George; sisters Mary and Georgette; wife Moona; daughter Randa; son-in-law Robert; and sons Ronnie and Robert.
A memorial service honoring John's life will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Williamsburg Christian Church at 200 John Tyler Lane in Williamsburg, Virginia, 23185.
