John J. LeClair Sr. passed away on March 7, 2023. Mr. LeClair was born July 24, 1933 in Plattsburg, New York to Rudolph and Gertrude LeClair.
He grew up in St. Albans, Vermont and upon graduation from St. Mary’s High School, Mr. LeClair moved to Washington D.C., where he took a job with the FBI as a file clerk.
It was at the FBI that Mr. LeClair met his wife to be, Donna Lee Allen. Following their marriage, Mr. LeClair, an Army Reservist, was called to active duty as part of the call up for the Korean War. Upon graduation from OCS Artillery School at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and with the Korean War under a cease fire, Mr. LeClair was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Benning, Georgia.
Following his discharge from the military, Mr. LeClair joined the CIA with assignments in Alaska, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Hawaii. He retired from the CIA in 1993 and took a job with the Defense Department as an instructor at the Armed Forces Experimental Training Activity, Camp Peary, Virginia.
Following his retirement from Camp Peary, Mr. LeClair joined CASA where he worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children for 9 years.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg with the Mass to begin immediately afterwards at 2:00pm. A small reception will follow.
