Joan Elizabeth Braman

Joan Elizabeth Braman, aged 57, passed away on March 03, 2017 after an admirable battle with cancer. Joan was born April 04, 1959, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Harry P. Russell and Eva E. Truett.

Joan loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. Her love impacted much more than her own children as she was an Assistant Teacher at Norge Elementary School for over 15 years. It is hard to describe someone of such grace, courage and kindness using only words. Her life was much more than words could ever describe and she has left a permanent imprint on the lives of all those who knew her, even for the shortest of times.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eva Russell. Joan is survived by her loyal four legged companion Benny; her sister, Nancy Beusse; brothers, Paul (Verna) Russell and John (Brita) Russell; daughters, Charlene (Jesse Smith) Braman, Lauren (Justin) Coghill, Jennifer Rodgers, Mary Christine (Jorge) Morales, and Elizabeth (Thomas) Blackwell; son, Morgan (Angela) Braman; and eleven grandchildren, Zeldyn (Valerie) Tucci, Michael Braman, Xavier Rodgers, Ahmya Tucci, Madison Braman, Noah Morales, Rachel Lee, Nikki Lee, Gabriela Morales, Ian Smith and Sawyer Coghill.

A Celebration of Joan's Life will be held on Saturday, March 11th, 1-4 pm at the James-City Bruton Volunteer Fire Department, 3135 Forge Road, Toano, VA 23168. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.nelsencares.com.
