He was preceded in death by his father, George D. Papadakis; his mother, Constance Papadakis; and his sisters, Catherine Papadakis, Harriett LaRussa and Joanne Mintzer.
James worked in sales in the food industry and retired from RJR Nabisco, Inc. He graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. James also served in the Army at Fort Dix.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Papadakis; and his sons, George Papadakis, James Papadakis and his sister Penny Roussi.
A memorial service will take place at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA, on Thursday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m.
