Ron was born in Holmes County, Florida on August 28, 1948. Shortly after high school graduation, he pursued his military dreams.
He was a U.S. Marine and retired U.S. Army veteran. In his 29 year military career, he specialized in Transportation with highest rank as a Sergeant Major (SGM). Ron earned numerous military decorations and medals including a Legion of Merit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Marksman Badge Rifle, M16, Army Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal. In his retired civilian life, he enjoyed the open road driving for various trucking companies.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, of 27 years, his son Aaron Lewis, daughters Tiffany Lewis, Kimberly Tyll, and Dana Feeney, seven grandchildren Sean, Chelsea, Alexander, Ethan, Ashton, Emma, and Ryan, daughter-in-law Clare Lewis, and sons-in-law Sean Tyll Sr, Edward Feeney Jr, and brothers John and Donnie Lewis. Ron was predeceased by his mother, Hattie Belle Paulk, and father, John C. Lewis.
A celebration of Ron’s life will begin at 4pm on Saturday, January 20, with military honors followed by a special tribute with Pastor Bill Cashman officiating at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA.
