Helen Marie Walz

Helen was born on October 3, 1925 in Rockville Centre, New York, to her parents, the late Howard Edward Cozine and Vera Louise Walters. Helen married Frederick Patrick Nickols in 1943. After the death of her first husband, she married George Walz in 1956. In 1999, she was made a widow for the second time.

Mrs. Walz is survived by her son, The Rev. James Nickols, pastor of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, and his wife, The Rev. Janell Nickols, who teaches at Stonehouse Elementary School, and their children, Jennifer Wilkins (Chris) and Joel Nickols (and fiancé Bridget Halloran). She is also survived by her step-daughter, Janette DeNezzo, of Northport, Florida and her children.

A service of resurrection will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, Virginia on May 13 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. David Gunderlach preaching, the Rev. James Nickols presiding, and the Rev. Janell Nickols assisting.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 7479 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188 with designation to the Senior Champions Program. Mrs. Walz was a participant in this senior day care program from its inception.

Interment will follow at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, after which the family will receive friends in the parish hall. Arrangements are in the care of Nelsen Funeral Home.
