Col. Clark was born in Huntington, WVA, the second son of the late Harry G. and S. Ruth Clark of Roanoke, Virginia. He was preceded by his brother Wayt P. in 1940. He was a distinguished military graduate of the Virginia Military Institute class of 1941. He retired in 1981 after 32 years of Army active duty and reserve duty, and 27 years of service in the CIA. Active duty during World War II was with the XVIII Corps Artillery Airborne, Assistant G-2 on the staff of the Theater Artillery Officer, ETO and Aide de Camp to the European Theater Inspector General. He was a special assistant to the Deputy Director for Science and Technology, CIA. He served tours in Germany, National Security Agency, National Photographic Agency, and the Inspector General. He was also a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College.
Col. Clark was a member of The Military Officers Association of America, a Life member of the Reserve Officers Association, a former member of the Colonial Capital Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg, an emeritus member of the American Chemical Society, and a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, James Page Clark and wife Cindy of Norwalk, CT; three daughters, Susan Slagle Clark of Waterbury, VT; Sarah Jean Clark of Temple Terrance FL; and Cathy Clark Betz of Arlington, VA; four grandchildren, Ashley Marie Forcke of Temple Terrance FL; Emily Helen Forcke of Philadelphia, PA; Gillian Maine Betz and Oran Bratton Betz of Arlington, VA.
A visitation will take place on Friday January 9th from 6- 8pm at Nelsen Funeral home at 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA. The memorial service will be Saturday January 10th at Patriots Colony located in Williamsburg, VA at 10am. The Burial will be private at the Princess Anne Memorial Park, Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach, VA.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the VMI Alumni Association Lexington, VA or to the building fund of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
