He is survived by his parents, Gordon Monroe Ivey, Jr. and Kimberly Smith Ivey; his grandmother, Polly Moore; as well as several uncles, aunts, and many cousins.
Gordon was a lifelong resident of James City County, where he graduated from Warhill High School. He attended Longwood College before returning home to work at Michael Surveying & Mapping as a surveyor.
Gordon was known for his infectious personality and laugh, which touched everyone who knew him. He was famous in his neighborhood where he enjoyed time on the river that he so loved. He loved his country, family, friends, his champion dock diving black lab, Gutz, and most recently, his long-awaited Sidney.
Services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, on Tuesday, September 5, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM and a memorial service following at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are also invited to a Celebration of Life on the Chickahominy River from 4:30 – 7:00 PM.
