Gail Holzworth passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2022, the day after her 83 birthday at her home in Williamsburg, VA. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian Heyer nee Greite; her brother, Bill; and her granddaughter, Savannah Paige.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Christine), Erik (Jacqui) and Betsy; her grandchildren, Ryan, Trynity, Amber (Chris), Ashleigh, and Morgan; and her great-grandchildren Kynleigh, Abel, and Leon. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jo Ann Heyer; and two nephews, Bill (Kristen) and Craig (Whitney). Gail loved her family and friends fiercely.
Steadfast in her faith, Gail was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.
Gail was born in NJ and grew up in Cliffside Park. Gail worked as an operating room nurse in MI, PA, NJ and VA until she retired. She joined the Naval Reserve at age 50 and was deployed in Desert Storm and retired as a LCDR after 10 years. She was the recipient of the LCDR Beatrice Ratner award for outstanding Jr Navy Nurse Corp Officer of the Year in 1994. She was very involved with the Naval Reserve Association (AUSN) and spent time as part of the scholarship committee as well as other duties.
Gail loved to travel and did her best to see the world. She gave her time to Operation Smile and went on three trips with them to perform life-altering surgery for the patients.
Per her wishes she will be cremated and the family plans to have a memorial service at King of Glory Church, 4897 Longhill Rd, Williamsburg, VA on January 14 at 10:00am.
