Frank loved his country and enlisted in the Air Force, he served honorably for 22 years as a Military Police Officer, and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring as Master Sergeant. After his service, he continued his police work in Newport News Shipbuilding, Northrop Grumman serving 26 years as a Security Police officer.
After his retirement he became a Master Gardener helping to beautify his community and loved tending his large garden behind his home, from which he enjoyed sharing vegetables with friends and neighbors. He loved keeping busy rebuilding rototillers and generators, and lived to help his many friends with any task at hand…saying “Piece of Cake.”
Frank and Margaret were three days shy of their 48th wedding anniversary.
Frank was a loving husband and father, the eldest of ten children. He leaves behind his wife Margaret T. LaRocco; his sisters, Myrta Whitten, Carol Dunn, June Schultz and Joann Glen (Tom); his brothers, Danny LaRocco and Robert Maxfield; his children, Gina LaRocco, Patricia LaRocco, Katie Work, and Michael LaRocco; his stepdaughter, Ann M. Dunn (Jeffrey A. Dunn Sr.); his grandchildren, James Stephens, Michael Stephens, Christina Stephens, Madison Work, and Connor Work; and his great-grandchildren, Karson Stephens and Marshall Stephens; and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Constance Joy LaRocco; and his brothers, Joseph Victor LaRocco and Roy Lee LaRocco; and his stepson, David L. Newsome Jr.
A memorial service for Frank will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, Virginia 23188, followed by a reception after the service.
