OBITUARY
Fire Chief T.K. "Buz" Weiler
June 3, 1940 – January 23, 2024
IN THE CARE OF
Nelsen Williamsburg
On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, loving husband, father, friend, and retired City of Williamsburg Fire Chief T.K. “Buz” Weiler answered his last call and returned to quarters. Chief Weiler was a dynamic and forward-looking leader with 43 years of dedicated service to the citizens in The City of Williamsburg and surrounding communities, bringing the Williamsburg Fire Department into the new millennium with his steadfast dedication to “His Troops” and through the preparation and training of the department for whatever challenges they might face. In addition to his years in the fire service, various awards, certifications, and honors received, Buz was also proud of his veteran status having served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Little Rock.
Being a man of great faith, Buz was a member of Saint Bede Catholic Church. After receiving the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) he served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and later a teacher of RCIA. More recently Buz also attended CrossWalk Church in Norge where he became active in the men’s ministry with his son and found a new walk with his faith.
He was preceded in death by his father Henry Benjamin Weiler and his mother Thelma Heckman Weiler, his first wife Audrey Robertson Weiler, and brother-in-law and “Amigo” Thomas Joseph McGrann Jr. Left to honor his memory are his best friend and loving wife of 44 years Margie, his devoted children Heather (Mauri), Steve (Lizzy), and son-in-law Dale (Tami); grandchildren Killian, Madison, Mollie, and Bailee; brother Greg (Jean), sister-in-law Barbara, brother-in-law Mike, and many extended family members. He is also survived by a daughter Hollie and granddaughter Kenna.
In addition to his family, those left to cherish Chief Weiler’s memory are the many friends and colleagues of the organizations and fraternities locally and nationally of which he was a part and the many Brothers and Sisters of the Fire Service worldwide. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations be made to The Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department (williamsburgvolunteerfire.org), CrossWalk Church-Norge Men’s Ministry (crosswalk.cc/norge), or the Williamsburg House of Mercy (williamsburghouseofmercy.org). Expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nelsenwilliamsburg.com.
