Faye was born February 14th, 1939 in Darlington County, South Carolina to Leola Byrd. Faye grew up in Newport News, VA and was raised by her mother and stepfather Henry Emanuel.
Faye led an active and vibrant life. During her lifetime, Faye ran Avis Car Rental for C.K. Wright, went on to own Coliseum Car Rental until she became a certified gemologist and began her career in Williamsburg with The Precious Gem. In the 80’s she started her own jewelry business and opened Hilton Village Goldsmith which she ran and operated until her retirement in 2003.
Faye was an active volunteer who supported many civic and non-profit associations over her lifetime. She and her late husband, J. Carey Minor supported the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Peninsula Chapter for several years, as well as the March of Dimes and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Upon her retirement, Faye spent her life devoted to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and volunteer work. She was an avid golfer and gardener, and enjoyed her time as a member of the Golden Horseshoe, Port Anne Walkers and Colonial Williamsburg Garden Club.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, John Carey Minor, Jr. and her mother Leola Byrd Emanuel; and her father Henry Emanuel. She is survived by her children, Sherrie Pucel and Tracy Trousdell; her brothers, Frank Emanuel and his wife Linda, Randy Emanuel and his wife Nancy, Michael Emanuel and his wife Cindy; and her sister, Linda Emanuel; her grandchildren, Brandi Cox (Free Cox), Shemar Digby (Steven Digby) and Johnathan Trousdell; and great grandchildren, Cody Sanders, McKayla Cox and Jensen Digby.
Faye was a bright light in the lives of so many and she will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at the family home on Saturday, March 12th, 2022 at 1:00 PM EST.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Faye’s memory to the March of Dimes or Leukemia-Lymphoma Society of VA – Peninsula Chapter.
