Wanda, Jimmy and Debbie,  My Sympathy is with you.  I am so sorry for your loss.  Family was extremely important to Ernie.  I loved to hear his stories he would share about his family.  Ernie became family to me when Bobby Whitt and I started dating and until this day.  Of course, there was no mistaking he & Bobby were brothers in heart.  I will continue to love Ernie.  Such a loss for everyone who knew him.  Once you met him he immediatly touched your heart.  My Love to you all.  I apologize I couldn't be with you at this time. Ernie loved his coffee. He asked me one day if I had ever had a French pressed coffee and I said no. The next day he brings in this contraption and proceeds to make me a pressed coffee. It smelled wonderful and then he watched in horror as I added all the cream and sugar that I usually put in my coffee. He then proceeded to tell me that I had ruined a perfectly good cup of coffee!! We laughed about that over the years

Barb & I live across the street from the West’s.  We are sorely going to miss Ernie.  If we would see each other outside, there was always a greeting a discussion unless the other was busy.  If one was wearing gloves, they always came off and hand shakes were a routine.  We always loved listening to his stories of fishing the York with his family, the history in the area and his gentle corrections of our mispronounced words like “Skimino”.  He was a true gentleman.  A kind soul who always made us feel valued and welcome.  We are going to miss our friend but I’m sure he’s been welcomed home by family and old friends.   Our deepest sympathies for Wanda and the entire West family.  God Bless. 

Ernie was a wonderful person, supervisor, co-worker & friend. He was loved by so many of his co-workers, and all that had contact with him thru the connection in this workforce industry. He meant so much to us all and touched many lives over the many years that he worked in the sand & gravel mining industry.  He made an impact and taught so many of us with the knowledge that he had about this industry. He taught us his specific ways of doing things that would help us do our jobs better. He cared deeply about his employees that he was responsible for and for their safety at work. He looked out for them and wanted the best for them. He was a very hard worker and loved to get things done. He will truley be missed by all of his work family so much because he was a vital part of the company.  His work family especially at the Charles City plant & the New Kent plant will miss him as he was a great supervisior and friend. May you rest in eternal peace, til we meet again our friend.

Our hearts ache for you all as Ernie was one of the finest people we have ever known.  He was such a loyal, dedicated and supportive co-worker and friend! He touched everyone he meant and taught us all so much. We will miss him greatly and we pray that your wonderful memories will sustain you and offer you peace.

I have known Ernie for a real long time but only saw him occasionally Ernie was the kinda guy everybody wanted to be friendly always smiling and willing to help anyone. I imagine they have him frying fish in heaven now rest in peace Ernie there are a lot of people who are gonna miss you!

I only knew Ernie for a short time but he made an impact on my life. He  was a wonderful man and I really enjoyed working with him. He was very caring and compassionate. He will be missed by all of us here at work. Praying for the family and friends.
