Eric Dean Holloman

Eric Dean Holloman, 61, passed away in Virginia Beach, VA on July 30, 2024. Eric was born on November 3, 1962. He was very proud to be the son of Lyndon and Betty Holloman. His love for family, the United States of America, and friends knew no bounds. His friends meant the world to him, and he considered them his family.

Eric grew up in a loving home in Northern Virginia. He attended Park View High School and went on to attend West Virginia University. After graduating, he began his career in the mortgage industry as a Loan Officer. His career eventually transitioned to a Secondary Marketing role for a major National Mortgage Corporation. Eric then created a pioneering information service that changed the mortgage industry. His entrepreneurial spirit continued with the creation of several other successful businesses along the way. The last few years of his life he focused on mentoring many young entrepreneurs. Eric loved to work and helped create new opportunities for others.

Eric’s impact on people extended way beyond business. One of his many sayings was “take care of the people around you!” Eric exemplified this with his words and deeds throughout his wonderful life. He loved to entertain people at his home and showered them with his generosity. Cookouts, crab feasts, and parties were just a few of the special events he loved to host. In his free time, he visited widows throughout the community. It wasn’t uncommon to see Eric showering others with acts of kindness. One of his favorite things to do was to buy a dozen single roses and hand them to specific and random people throughout the day. He said he loved to see their faces light up with joy! Another thing he enjoyed was giving random people gift cards throughout his travels. Eric truly loved to visit and speak with family, friends, and even strangers. Anyone that knew Eric, or even those who quickly crossed his path in life, soon found out that he loved to talk. He also loved to help anyone he encountered. He was very generous with his time, talents, and treasures.

Eric often said that his favorite day was the wedding anniversary of his parents. He spoke lovingly of the hard work and discipline both his parents and grandparents instilled in him. He called his mom every morning. He was very thankful for the love and stability his family provided.

Eric had a deep love for his cat Junior, his dog Cooper, and his favorite dog, Maxwell. Eric considered them some of his closest companions. They brought so much joy and happiness to his life daily. He loved recording their actions throughout the day and sharing the joy they brought to him with others. Eric’s laughter on those recordings was infectious. He affectionately called the dogs The Brown Dog Mafia. Eric always said that one of the best days of his life was the day he got Maxwell. In his final years he credited Maxwell with saving his life.

Eric loved the United States of America. His home and truck were adorned with the American Flag. He held a special honor and reverence for the military and especially his father’s service.

Eric was a life member of the Norview Masonic Lodge. He was raised February 9, 2006 and served as Worshipful Master in 2012.

While Virginia Beach was his home, the outer banks of North Carolina and Ocracoke Island held a special place in his heart. He grew up shore fishing in the area as a boy with his father and continued those adventures with his dad, friends, and Maxwell throughout his life. Ocracoke was Eric’s refuge. He made a trip to the island whenever he could to fish with his favorite Captain and to ride and play along the surf. Eric always said he would have lived on the island if not for his health issues.

Beyond the numerous friends he had in Virginia Beach he held a special place in his heart for his friends from Northern Virginia and his youth. Eric maintained lifetime bonds with them and cherished the time, friendship, and memories they shared. He viewed them as his brothers and sisters.

We are truly saddened by the passing of one of the most caring and generous people to have lived. His generosity knew no bounds. Eric’s positive spirit was steadfast through years of pain and sickness. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.

A memorial service with Masonic rights will be held on Saturday, August 10 at 11:00am at the Norview Masonic Temple, 1125 Hugo Street, Norfolk, VA. All are welcome. Private burial will take place at Peninsula Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Eric requested donations be made to the Southeastern Food Bank.
