Elizabeth Gladys Barker, 58, of James City County, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. She is preceded in death by her mother; Joyce E. Foley.
From 1978 to 1980, Elizabeth served in the Vermont National Guard and in the Army from 1980 to 1982. She turned 18 in basic training. During her time in the service, she met Eddie Barker at Ft. Eustis in July 1980. They were married March 21, 1981 at Lee Hall Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie R. Barker; father, Walter D. Foley; sister, Joyce K. Foley; brother, Walter P. Foley; daughter, Crystal D. Weiss, her husband, David Weiss, and their children, Paul, Jacob, and Alexander; son, Michael Barker, his wife, Monica Barker, and their children, Mason, Mara, and Maxton, along with one other grandchild Michael Jr. With Elizabeth at such a young age, there are many others left behind: cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family in her hometown of Colchester, Vermont.
When we think of Elizabeth and what she loved, we think of Jesus first and foremost. We think of her joyous smile when she was raising her babies and enjoying her grandbabies. We remember her service and love of our nation. She loved the river, hunting, fishing, being a homemaker, and her pugs, Baby, Kitty, and Nemo.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 10 AM at Christ Community Church, 9001 Richmond Road West, Toano, VA 23168.
