She was born November 17, 1927 in Binghamton NY. She attended Binghamton Central High School and the State University of New York, Teachers College at Potsdam, where she graduated with a BS in Education and an MS in Music Education. Her teaching career included Music and Kindergarten in West Islip, NY, and Jamestown Academy and St. Stephens Nursery School in Williamsburg, VA.
A member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, she was also a founding member of the Susanah Wesley Circle and longtime member of the choir. She was also a longtime accompanist of the Williamsburg Women’s Chorus.
After retiring to the Finger Lakes region of central New York, she attended the Owasco Reformed Church and was a member of the Roundabout Club and Owasco Yacht Club in Auburn, NY. She and her husband returned to Williamsburg in 2010 where she continued her membership in the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include spouse, Richard A. “Dick” Johnson; two sons, Mark A. Johnson and Gregg R. Johnson; and grandchild, Mark Johnson Willard.
A service will be held on Thursday, December 20th at 11:00am at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Owasco Reformed Church , 5105 Route 38A, Auburn, NY, 13021 (www.owascoreformedchurch.org)
