Don was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Northwood High School. He attended Abilene Christian University and graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration.
Don had a vast career in law enforcement serving on the bomb squad, swat team and was undercover for 14 years in VICE. Don retired as a Lieutenant after 37 years of protecting and serving.
Competition should/could have been Don’s middle name and Mexican train was the game. Always strategizing, he enjoyed welcoming and challenging new and returning players, and for the most part, inevitably, he won almost every game.
Don loved traveling the world with his beloved Pandra, his children, and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed the family trips to places like Disney World and cruising. When asked, “what is your favorite city?, “ Dubai was his answer. Countless memories and friendships were made throughout his travels and those special times will always be cherished.
Don was an avid golfer and had the opportunity to play and visit some of the most prestigious courses in the country and the world. He had the chance to play with his daughter, Amanda, and he always said a prayer she wouldn’t out drive him.
Don loved to regale friends and family with stories, especially from his time in law enforcement. An avid storyteller, he kept anyone in his presence entertained for hours. He was socially active in his community and will be missed on numerous accounts.
Known as Papa Duck to his grandchildren, he could imitate Donald Duck’s voice and instantly capture their attention. A skill that always left a smile on their faces.
Donald is survived by his wife, Pandra, daughter Amanda Terzian and her husband Jim; stepsons, John “Brandon” Dickson and his wife, Mary; Remington Dickson and his wife, Monya; grandchildren: Scarlet Dickson, John “Michael” Dickson, and James Easton Terzian; mother: Eleanor Richie; siblings, Glenn Richie, Larry Richie and his wife Marsha, Patricia “Patti” Bell, Elizabeth “Jeanie” Hayes and her husband, Steve and numerous nieces and nephews.
