I am so late in seeing Dave has passed.   I only connected with him on Twitter.  I was so amazed and impressed with his devotion to saving senior dogs.  The world is a sadder place without him.  I hope his remaining dogs are being cared for.  What a gift he had and how special he was.  My heart is sad for all of you who loved him and shared his life.

I'm so sorry to read of David's passing. We were social media friends for many years. We shared a love for dogs. Like David, my dogs are always rescues. I too had drug and alcohol problems in my past and alwsys offered my support. Please know he is missed by many.

To the Wingate Family- I am so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. We went to Madison HS together and he was the sweetest guy. I did see him a couple of years ago, some JMHS people got together and he came. It was so good to see him.  I am sad that he had such a struggle. He is in a much better place now. Your family is in my thoughts.

Dave and I went to Madison High School together. He was the first guy I said “hi” to at freshman orientation and that was the start of a great high school friendship. I remember our Senior year, when Dave enlisted in the delayed entry program for the Army. My dad (being a former Marine) knew how to give high & tight haircuts. So Dave asked if he could come over to my house for a buzz cut. My dad was more than happy to do it. 
Nothing but good memories with Dave. Rest in Peace my old friend.

My heart is hurting. Such a wonderful soul! What a huge loss for the senior dog community. My condolences to all the souls whose lives he touched. My prayers for peace and comfort to the family and friends.

Dave was one of a kind. I moved to VA in 2009 and Dave and I became fast friends!He stayed with Steve and I before moving to Bealeton. Dave was the brother I always wish I had. He met my mother, who thought the world of him. And my granddaughters who refer to him as “Uncle Dave”. Dave wasn’t just our friend, Dave was family to everyone who knew him.

I worked with Dave more than 30 years ago at Quigley’s. He called me his Egg (as in I was a good egg.) We reconnected a few years ago, and I was so happy he was in such a good place and was sharing his life with the dogs who needed him. This is so sad. I’ll miss seeing his posts.

I met and worked with Dave at Slades many years ago. We decided to get a place together and he was the best roomie you could ask for. I missed him immensely when he decided to move away, but we had social media and I always loved seeing him with his #grayfacemafia. The world is a little dimmer without him here, but I bet he had the most amazing reception at the Rainbow Bridge ❤️

Dave welcomed me into his Twitter family as a member of the #GrayFaceMafia..  He was always so kind and supportive of me and all of his followers.  I never met Dave, but my heart is full of gratitude that I had the privilege to share my love for dogs with him.  My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I’m so sad to hear of Dave’s passing. He was such a lovely man, with a huge heart and I very much enjoyed waking up on the weekend to see his adventures with his crew, the Grey Face Mafia. I think it important to note that Winnie never had it easy. Though supported by his family and friends he struggled. 
He never let a loved one down; even at great cost to himself.
My last conversations with him were of him trying to support me.

I’m so sorry to hear of David’s passing. We went to high school together, and he was one of the nicest people there. It was great reconnecting with him years later on Twitter due to our mutual love of dogs. I will miss his Twitter posts and pictures terribly.  He was one of the good ones.

I cannot believe one of my favorite Twitter pals has gone home to glory. That bright smile and big kind heart will be missed. Truly, truly missed. It is so odd to say that someone you have never met has made such an impression on you. His kindness, that big smile and his love for dogs made him a special person.
