David was born in Long Branch, New Jersey and graduated in 1958 from St. Lawrence University. He served as a navigator in the Navy aboard the USS Waldron before moving to Maryland and beginning his career in investment banking. He retired from the Private Wealth Management Department of Mercantile Safe Deposit and Trust company in Baltimore where he cultivated many life-long friendships. He then joined Atlantic Trust Private Wealth Management where he worked until his move to Williamsburg.
David was an avid reader and among his other many hobbies was his love of travel and a really good movie.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mildred Peckner Kemble and Edmund William Kemble. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sharon; his sons, Brian (Hillery), Jeff (Erin); step-sons, Zachary and Jabe; step-daughter, Whitney (Jason); grandchildren; Emmet, Gavin, Ellie, Andrew, Derek, Kendall, Tim, Hannah, Jared, Colin; sister, Winnifred Taylor; nephew, Marty Taylor and cousin, Paul Spiess.
In accordance with David’s wishes, there will be no service. A gathering of family and friends will be held on the Outer Banks at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City 73123. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.nelsencares.com.
