A long-time resident of Williamsburg, Dan was born the eldest child of Zeb and Lila Mae Williams of Seneca, South Carolina. He joined the Marine Corps at an early age, spending the next two years in the Philippines, returning back to the States at war's end where he met and married Emma Marie Smith of Edenton, North Carolina. Together they owned and operated West End Market, where his reputation for meat cutting abounded, a reputation that would follow him throughout his career until his third and final retirement. He was a long time member of the Williamsburg Baptist Church and a member of several civic organizations including the Lions Club and the Exchange Club. He was unwavering in support of his children and proud of all their endeavors.
Dan is survived by his three children, Patricia Anne (Gerald) Kleive of New Orleans, La., Barbara Lynn Walk of Williamsburg Va., and Dan Wilburn (Pamela) Williams, Jr. of Williamsburg, Va.; seven grandchildren, Tammy (Timothy) Villeret, Jennifer (Paul) Stewart, Angela Baxter, Gerald (Lacy) Kleive, Jr., Allen (Laurie) Atkinson, Scott (Kathy) Marshal, Goldie (Mark) Rogers; and thirteen great-grandchildren Chase, Marcy, Kelsey, Josh, Becca, Daniel, Joshua, Sarah Beth, Hannah, Ryley, Adelae, Stephanie, and Austin; and his sister Frances Cartee of Greer, South Carolina.
Funeral services are 2:00pm Saturday, June 21 at The Williamsburg Baptist Church, 227 Richmond Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185
