My sisters and I knew Charlie and his family all of our lives.  Our parents were friends as well.  Stanley and my older sister, Mary Ellen, were close friends.  Stanley and I lived together for a few months! Charlie, in particular, meant so much to all of us.  He made sure that we had pies for our holidays.  Daddy gave pies as gifts every year!  When we had the ice storm, he had a generator... We kept it to ourselves forever that we had prime rib au jus as he cooked it for us.  Mother wanted to write to the Va. Gazette about how wonderful Charlie was to us.  I told her that she could not do so as everyone else in town was eating tuna fish sandwiches on Christmas Day! Charlie had such a heart.  He truly cared - and he truly cared about his Williamsburg family.  Gone too soon but now with his parents and Stanley - and I'm sure he's smiling. 

Charlie and I met when I started working at Emily’s Donuts. He was making pies. I found out later that he knew my sister too,(small world)! Charlie became my mentor and someone I consider a good friend. Always called to check in and gave me my nickname “The Sugar Plum Fairy”. He was loved and will be missed so very much.

My deepest condolences to the family. I am so sorry to hear of the lost of another classmate. Charles was a gentle soul that was cheerful and always greeted each and  everyone in his path, with that gentle smile. May God stretch His arms to surround each of you, to comfort, love and rememberance of Charles that will make each memory a blessing of your loved one.

Charles Graff always brought a smile to my face...since third grade. I will never forget the day at Matthew Whaley when the cafeteria served beets. Charles HATED beets! He very slyly put his in his milk carton. Unfortunately, he got caught and the teacher made him drink the carton of milk. He always had a smile on his face and was friend to all! RIP

Charles, you’ve been a big brother to me for all these years.  I’ll miss you. Reading all the posts people have made about you, I guess we all feel the same. You’ve marked us all with your friendship and generosity. (I’ve got one of your pies in my freezer).

So sad to hear about the loss of another classmate. My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family. Rest in Heavenly Peace Charlie. 

When I received the notice I was shocked, he came by my office the day before 4th of July to give me a pecan pie for the holiday, such a good man ... always smiling ... I am truly saddened.  My prayers to the family and his many friends ...  God's Comfort. Jackie

I remember hanging out with Charlie's sister, Stanley and what a sweet little brother he was. He was a sweet man, too and will be missed. 

It’s an end to a era that we all will remember. The  entire Graff family is now resting in peace together.  We lived in The Colony with the Graff’s. Charles’ mom, Anne was my Mom’s best friend, Stanley was a dear friend to me and classmate. Charles’s father Jim, was a friend and business partner with my Dad. 
Charles always had kind words to say about everyone and loved sharing his pies with all. 
The Williamsburg family from long ago will certainly miss them and I loved them all. 
Enjoy being with your family again, Charles. Tell them all the Sternberg have you in our thoughts, my friend.

Our family has known him for years.  He was an awesome chef. He would  from time to time stop in at Patriot Buick GMC over the years to say hi to my brothers and I. Just 2 weeks ago he stopped by to tell us how sorry he was to hear about Patriot's closing. He said " I will be back with a couple of Pecan pies". Sure  enough the very next day . There he was with his promise of pies. Very thoughtful. We will always cherish his kindness and friendship. He will be missed by many. RIP.

Charlie was a friend of mine for over 50 years. He was always a joy to be around .If you were his friend, he truly loved and cared for you.  If you were talking to him, you had his undivided attention.  RIP my friend. I will miss your contageous  laugh !💔💖.  Nita Guerti n Hutchinson

Charlie was a classmate at James Blair(73). Also a neighborhood pal in the 1970's (The Colony). He was a great guy and always a pleasure to see thru-out the years. He will be missed. R.I.P. my Brother.
