He was born in Bell Hospital on December 28, 1943, and raised in Williamsburg, VA. In 1950, when he was 7 years old, he was baptized at James River Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil L. and June R. Whitt, as well as his sister, Marie Gilman.
Bobby retired as a supervisor from the Naval Weapons Station with over 20 years of service.
He moved to The Villages, FL in 2009. He would always tell friends and family he had to relocate for his job… golfing. A charter member of Old Timer’s softball team, he spent many years playing softball and baseball, all the way from Little League to Old Timer’s.
Bobby will be missed by his significant other, Shelley Barton; his children, Vickie Skutans Hines (Rick), Tammy M. Whitt, and Cecil Robert Whitt Jr.; along with his grandchildren; Heather Monaghan, Ryan Skutans, Courtney Dunbar, Kelsey Dunbar, Lauren Skutans, two great-grandchildren, and beloved dog Cocoa. He is also survived by his brother, James “Jim” Whitt (Suzanne), his nieces, Bonnie Feamster and Julie Koontz (Mike); nephews, James Whitt (Robin) and Kirke Smith (Greg); his special cousin, Nancy Lewis; and his best friend from Little League on, Ernie West (Wanda), as well as countless others and his special extended family Frank and Marie Bronko.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA, on Saturday, January 14 at 3pm followed by a reception.
Memorial Contributions may be made in his honor to the Cornerstone Hospice House. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Casa Bella of The Villages, FL for their love and care.
