While attending art school in Nashville, TN she met the love of her life! Their art careers began in Knoxville, TN where Elaine was Art Director for Miller's. After Vernon's brief service in the Military they moved to Williamsburg, VA. In 1964 the area didn't offer many choices for career women, so Elaine joined the Daily Press as the first woman ever hired for outside sales. After working 16 years with the Daily Press she started VEW ARTS, INC. Her Advertising /Design Firm has operated for over 38 years.
In 2005 Elaine began her journeys to Duke Clinic, which continued over the next 12 years. She always felt blessed to have the extra time due to the care she received at Duke and the type of slow growth cancer she was fighting.
Elaine loved working with all of her Agency's Clients and kept working even though always being questioned "when are you going to retire?"
She is Survived by her loving Husband of 58 years and always said Vernon was her "best friend" in the whole world, her sons, Brent & Jon Wooten, grand children, Carter, Taylor & Shea Wooten. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.
In lieu of flower please donate to the Williamsburg Hospice House or the Cancer Care Foundation of Todewater.
