Ann Cameron Corrie, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on April 10, 2025. The first daughter of Honora Boyer Cameron and Edward Madison Cameron, Jr. Ann was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1927. A few years later, the family moved to Garden City, NY, where Ann lived for most of her life, until moving to Williamsburg Landing in 2001.
She enjoyed many summers at her family home on Elk Lake, Pennsylvania. She married Robert Donald Corrie in 1959, and they spent 55 happy years together, until his death in 2014. Ann earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Wells College in 1948 and a master’s in education from Colombia University in 1953.
A gifted teacher, Ann taught children with disabilities. She saw and nurtured the talents of each of her pupils, and with patience and creativity sparked an engaging classroom environment which included dramatic and culinary arts and field trips. She remained in touch with many of her students throughout her life. She also provided in-home tutoring services for children unable to attend school.
Ann was passionate about caring for her family and community. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother to her three daughters and provided support for her parents and neighbors. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and an active member of the United Methodist Church and the American Association of University Women. As a resident of Williamsburg Landing, she led a monthly book club and coordinated the rotating exhibits in the main lobby. Ann was an avid reader and walker, and loved animals, especially dogs. Ann especially enjoyed attending the opera in both New York and Virginia with her husband and grandson.
She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Corrie del Cid (Vince), Jean Corrie Wortman (Jim) and Carolyn Corrie (Robert Tannen); three grandchildren, Herson Gamez (Victoria), Robert Gamez (Kristine Smith) and Lucy Corrie-Tannen; two great-grandsons, Herson Gamez, Jr. and Daniel Gamez; her sister, Louise Cameron Benson; and many nephews and nieces.
