Anita Cantrell Dorsey
July 17, 1936 – June 29, 2015

At the end of a long and valiant battle with cancer, loving wife and mother, and dedicated special education teacher, Anita Cantrell Dorsey, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully in her home on June 29, 2015, at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her father, William Cantrell and mother, Ina Call Cantrell.
Anita earned a B.S. degree in Education from the State University of New York, Plattsburgh in 1958 and achieved her Master’s degree in Education in 1983 from George Mason University. She worked for the Fairfax and James City County Public Schools serving as a special education teacher.
She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, for several years. Anita enjoyed sewing and quilting, quilling, singing in chorus at Patriots Colony, going to the beach at Ocean City, MD and visiting with her granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur G. Dorsey, Jr.; son, Douglas Dorsey and his wife, Helen, of Sterling, VA; daughter, Patricia Lewis, of Lanexa, VA; grandchildren, Alexandra, Caroline, Mackenzie; and her brother, Donald Cantrell of Princeton, NJ.
A Memorial Service will take place at Patriots Colony of Williamsburg on Saturday, August 8 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Stephen Lutheran Church, 612 Jamestown Rd. Williamsburg VA 23185, the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.nelsencares.com.
