Laura Lea “Babe” Laferty (64) of Attica, died at 1:50 A.M. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born in Willard, Ohio to the late Raymond and Betty (Ludban) Burks on April 10, 1948. She was married June 2, 1979 to Gary L. Laferty
Mrs. Laferty was a Corrections Officer, (MANCI) and retired in 2009. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Willard.
Mrs. Laferty is survived by her husband Gary L. Laferty of Attica, 7 sons: Daniel Laferty of Attica, James Burks of Attica, Raymond ( Michelle) Jones of Willard, John (Becky) Jones of Shiloh, James Jones of Upper Sandusky, Gary Laferty Jr. of California, and Anthony (Stephanie) Jones of Willard. 2 daughters: Carla (Gary) Barnett of Willard, OH and Samantha Ellis of Greenwich. 2 brothers: Robert (Liz) Burks of Lexington and Chuck (Della) Burks of Plymouth, and a brother in law Hancer Laferty Jr. of New Haven. 2 sisters: Jodi Burks of Willard, and Fran Kimberly of Colorado, 3 sister in laws Shari (Larry) Bailey of New Washington, Sandy (Terry) Feltner of New Haven, and Pam (Lacy) Shepherd of Greenwich. 19 grandchildren: Carrie Barnett Robinson, Josh Barnett, Jason Barnett, Justin Barnett, Kim Jones, Darren Jones, Travis Jones, Katie Jones, Abby Jones, Camryn Jones, Kilei Scott, Sammi Jones, James Jones, Miranda Ellis, JT Ellis, Caroline Ellis, Gary Laferty, Dale Laferty and Riley Burks. 11 great grandchildren. A father in law Hancer Laferty of New Haven.
Mrs. Laferty was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Betty(Ludban) Burks, 1st husband Carlos Jones, mother in laws Dorothy Laferty, Laura Jean Laferty, granddaughter Kendra Jones, sister in laws Cookie Laferty, Sue Wells, Freda Burks, and a brother in law Tom Furr.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday May 12, 2012 at the First Assembly of God. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, 323 Myrtle Ave. Willard. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Assembly of God through the funeral home.
