Donald Eugene Stevens, 82, passed into glory in the early morning hours of August 27th 2015 at Heartland of Wauseon Nursing Home in Wauseon Ohio after a brief illness. He was born in Mason, Michigan, October 13th 1932 to the late James Murdo Stevens and Hazel Stevens (Larkins). He lived in Huron County most of his life settling in New Haven, Ohio until his recent move to Archbold, Ohio.
Donald proudly served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict serving aboard the battleship USS IOWA. Raised on a rural farm he was a country boy at heart who loved tractors, old cars and aviation; but his greatest joy was his family. He retired from Dutch Maid in Willard as a semi trailer mechanic and also worked for many years at Ohio Body and American Baler. He married the love of his life Phyllis Farrington Stevens November 24th 1956 to which were born 5 children.
Donald is survived by his children, Kip (Debra) Stevens, Shelby, Ohio; Denny (Alaine) Stevens, Springfield, Missouri; Scott (Jayne) Stevens, Homerville, Ohio, and Kimberly (Nathan) Sauder, Archbold, Ohio. Brother, Wesley (Betty) Stevens, Umatilla Florida; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Stevens 2012; daughter Melissa Stevens 1981; brother Harold Stevens 2013 and grandson Kurt Smith August 10, 2015.
Friends may call from 2pm – 5pm Sunday, August 30th at the Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, 323 Myrtle Ave, Willard, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 31st at Lindsey-Kocher with Pastor Thomas Blair of Mansfield First Assembly officiating; internment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven, Ohio.
